Dick

From beyond the grave, the racist rants of Richard Nixon continue to seep out in newly-released tapes made 16 months before he resigned in disgrace.

From the New York Times:

“The Jews have certain traits,” he said. “The Irish have certain — for example, the Irish can’t drink. What you always have to remember with the Irish is they get mean. Virtually every Irish I’ve known gets mean when he drinks. Particularly the real Irish.”

Nixon continued: “The Italians, of course, those people course don’t have their heads screwed on tight. They are wonderful people, but,” and his voice trailed off.

A moment later, Nixon returned to Jews: “The Jews are just a very aggressive and abrasive and obnoxious personality.”

At another point, in a long and wandering conversation with Rose Mary Woods, his personal secretary, that veered from whom to invite to a state dinner to whether Ms. Woods should get her hair done, Nixon offered sharp skepticism at the views of William P. Rogers, his secretary of state, about the future of black Africans.

“Bill Rogers has got — to his credit it’s a decent feeling — but somewhat sort of a blind spot on the black thing because he’s been in New York,” Nixon said. “He says well, ‘They are coming along, and that after all they are going to strengthen our country in the end because they are strong physically and some of them are smart.’ So forth and so on.

“My own view is I think he’s right if you’re talking in terms of 500 years,” he said. “I think it’s wrong if you’re talking in terms of 50 years. What has to happen is they have be, frankly, inbred. And, you just, that’s the only thing that’s going to do it, Rose.”

Now, of course, they'd give him a radio show:

Daily Dope: Rush Limbaugh (Again)

The de facto leader of the Republican Party proves yet again that a racist, ignorant, fat fuck with a microphone is still nothing but a racist, ignorant, fat fuck with a microphone.

Muy Bueno, Los Suns!

From the AP via SportsIllustrated.com

The Phoenix Suns will wear "Los Suns" on their jerseys in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals on Wednesday night, owner Robert Sarver said, "to honor our Latino community and the diversity of our league, the state of Arizona, and our nation."
The decision to wear the jerseys on the Cinco de Mayo holiday stems from a law passed by the Arizona Legislature and signed by Gov. Jan Brewer that has drawn widespread criticism from Latino organizations and civil rights groups that say it could lead to racial profiling of Hispanics. President Barack Obama has called the law "misguided."
Sarver, who was born and raised in Tucson, said frustration with the federal government's failure to deal with the illegal immigration issue led to the passage of what he called "a flawed state law."
"However intended, the result of passing the law is that our basic principles of equal rights and protection under the law are being called into question," he said, "and Arizona's already struggling economy will suffer even further setbacks at a time when the state can ill-afford them."
The measure makes it a crime under state law to be in the country illegally, and it directs local police to question people about their immigration status and demand to see their documents if there is reason to suspect they are illegal.
The controversy surrounding the law has led to picketing at some road games of baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks and a call from the Rev. Jesse Jackson for major league baseball to move next year's All-Star Game from Phoenix.
Sarver came up with the "Los Suns" jersey idea but left it up to the players for the final decision, Suns guard Steve Nash said, and all of them were for it.
"I think it's fantastic," Nash said after Tuesday's practice. "I think the law is very misguided. I think it's, unfortunately, to the detriment of our society and our civil liberties. I think it's very important for us to stand up for things we believe in. As a team and as an organization, we have a lot of love and support for all of our fans. The league is very multicultural. We have players from all over the world, and our Latino community here is very strong and important to us."
Nash was born in South Africa and moved with his parents to Victoria, British Columbia, when he was 1 1/2 years old. He was one of four Canadians to light the torch in the opening ceremony of the Vancouver Olympics this year.
San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said his team was interested in taking part but couldn't get new "Los Spurs" road jerseys in time for the game.

Hannity's America (Without The Fox News Edits.)

I recently mentioned Fox News fuckwad Sean Hannity's denials regarding racist and homophobic slurs during the last weekend of the health care reform debate. His panel--comprised of D-list conservative media rejects with Ann Coulter fetishes--nodded like the bobblehead doggy in the rear window of Rupert's limousine. I imagine Hannity's own nodding noggin at that News Corp meeting when Fox announced they'd be going all-in on Glenn Beck.
An indignant Hannity claimed that he would offer cash for the video.

Here ya go, asshole.

Here is Sean Hannity's e-mail address. Another one is: hannity@foxnews.com. Remember, Hannity also promised to be waterboarded for charity and wound up lying about that, too, so good luck getting this failed construction worker-turned-TV/radio-shouter-turned-opportunistic-teabagger to come clean on his latest bullying boast. But, please--send him a little reminder...

And, Sean: pay the f#&% up.

Sean Hannity: Still In The Running For Top Honors As "America's Douchebag."

You know, Sean, I've called you an ignorant, lying motherf&#@$! on many occasions. To the best of my knowledge, nobody has ever filmed me saying it and put it up on YouTube. But I can assure you that I said it.
Maybe you'd enlighten yourself by reading accounts of the racist Teabagger taunts, including this excerpt from your own company:

Reps. John Lewis, D-Ga, and Andre Carson, D-Ind., both members of the Congressional Black Caucus, said that a group of protesters hollered at them and called them the N-word.
"They were just shouting. Harassing," Lewis told Fox News. "People being downright mean."
Kristie Greco, spokeswoman for Democratic Whip Jim Clyburn, said a protester spit on Rep. Emanuel Cleaver who is black and said police escorted the lawmakers into the Capitol. Cleaver's office said he would decline to press charges, but Sgt. Kimberly Schneider of the U.S. Capitol Police said in an e-mail later: "We did not make any arrests today."
Clyburn, who led fellow black students in integrating South Carolina's public facilities a half century ago, called the behavior "absolutely shocking."
"I heard people saying things today that I have not heard since March 15, 1960, when I was marching to try to get off the back of the bus," Clyburn told reporters.

But no videotape of those specific events has yet emerged, you say, so I guess they never happened, right, Sean?
We've seen how easily snowed you are by videotape (see "O'Keefe, James.") We've also seen how fast and loose you play with your own show's distorted, out-of-context editing to twist a piece of tape into your own fetid Fox fiction.
Now you're denying last weekend's racist and homophobic slurs simply because they haven't (yet) shown up on YouTube?
What about Lincoln's assassination, Sean? I haven't seen that videotape yet; have you?
You'd better get Glenn Beck on the case; it's getting cold...

Will They Have A Tea Party At Halftime?

(...or will it be a Klan rally?)
From the Augusta (GA) Chronicle:

A new professional basketball league boasting rosters made up exclusively of white Americans has its eyes set on Augusta, but the team isn't receiving a warm welcome.

"Only players that are natural born United States citizens with both parents of Caucasian race are eligible to play in the league," the statement said. The All-American Basketball Alliance announced in a news release Sunday evening that it intends to start its inaugural season in June and hopes Augusta will be one of 12 cities with a team.

Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver, who has publicly expressed his support for minor league teams in the past, said he would not do the same for this team.

"As a sports enthusiast, I have always supported bringing more sporting activities to Augusta," he said. "However, in this instance I could not support in good conscience bringing in a team that did not fit with the spirit of inclusiveness that I, along with many others, have worked so hard to foster in our city."

Don "Moose" Lewis, the commissioner of the AABA, said the reasoning behind the league's roster restrictions is not racism.

"There's nothing hatred about what we're doing," he said. "I don't hate anyone of color. But people of white, American-born citizens are in the minority now. Here's a league for white players to play fundamental basketball, which they like."

Lewis said he wants to emphasize fundamental basketball instead of "street-ball" played by "people of color." He pointed out recent incidents in the NBA, including Gilbert Arenas' indefinite suspension after bringing guns into the Washington Wizards locker room, as examples of fans' dissatisfaction with the way current professional sports are run.

"Would you want to go to the game and worry about a player flipping you off or attacking you in the stands or grabbing their crotch?" he said. "That's the culture today, and in a free country we should have the right to move ourselves in a better direction."

The Atlanta-based league, which will operate as a single-entity owning all of its teams, is looking for local contacts to pay $10,000 to become a "licensee" in one of 12 cities throughout the Southeast. Lewis said he has already received threats from people opposed to the roster restrictions and several cities have told him to stay out of town. Lewis said he has yet to hear from any one in Augusta.

"People will come out and support a product they can identify with. I'm the spoken minority right now, but if people will give us a chance, it'll work... The white game of basketball, which is essentially a fundamental game, works."

Lewis said he wasn't sure where the team will play.

How about in an outhouse?

To Protect And Serve...

...white people?

From the
Boston Globe:

An officer in the Boston Police Department has been suspended after allegedly writing a racially charged e-mail about Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. to colleagues at the National Guard, a law enforcement official said.
The law enforcement official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Officer Justin Barrett referred to the black scholar as a “jungle monkey’’ in the letter, written in reaction to news coverage of Gates’s arrest July 16. Barrett was suspended Tuesday, pending a termination hearing.
In an interview that WCVB-TV aired last night, Barrett said he used “a poor choice of words.’’
“I did not mean to offend anyone,’’ he said. “The words were being used to characterize behavior, not describe anyone . . . I didn’t mean it in a racist way. I treat everyone with dignity and respect.’’
Barrett and his lawyer said they will fight the charges. “People are making it about race. It is not about race,’’ Barrett said.

Well, Officer Barrett, that's a helluva display of "dignity and respect." And if it's "not about race," just what the hell was it about? The Boston Police Benevolent Association's mascot?

Glenn Beck: "I'm Not Saying (Obama) Doesn't Like White People" (But He) "Has Exposed Himself As A Guy...With A Deep-Seated Hatred For White People."

Huh? That's some major-league cognitive dissonance at work, even for a twisted dipshit like Glenn Beck.

UPDATE: FOX News tried to cover its ass by releasing the following statement last evening to TV Newser:

"During FOX & Friends this morning, Glenn Beck expressed a personal opinion which represented his own views, not those of the FOX News Channel. And as with all commentators in the cable news arena, he is given the freedom to express his opinions."

"...his own views, not those of the FOX News Channel." Right. Just its owner, president and every motherf***** it puts on its air.

Redneck Alert! GOP Confederate Uses Social Networking Site; Puts His Racism In Writing.

GOP Confederates continue to exhibit their unrivaled ability to say (and type) incredibly stupid, racist shit.

From FitsNews.com:

A prominent S.C. Republican Party activist is in hot water after describing an escaped gorilla at a South Carolina zoo as an “ancestor” of First Lady Michelle Obama.

The exchange occurred after Trey Walker, an advisor to S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster, posted an innocuous Facebook update about (Sunday) morning’s escape of a Western Lowlands Gorilla from Columbia’s Riverbanks Zoo.

Walker’s harmless update, however was followed by a highly-questionable comment from longtime SCGOP activist and former State Senate candidate, Rusty DePass.

“I’m sure it’s just one of Michelle’s ancestors — probably harmless,” DePass wrote.

(Editor's note: that's a screengab of this yahoo's Facebook comment above, compliments of FitsNews.com.)

An early South Carolina supporter of former President George W. Bush, DePass has been active in Republican politics in South Carolina for decades.

From HuffPo:

DePass later admitted to WIS News that he was referring to Michelle Obama and said, "I am as sorry as I can be if I offended anyone. The comment was clearly in jest."

DePass, who was a county co-chair for Rudy Giuliani's 2008 campaign, supported the push to impeach President Bill Clinton in the late 90s, writing in an op-ed for The State, "Do Republicans have higher moral standards than Democrats?"

Well, Rusty, you just answered your own question.

UPDATED: Here's video, including a report on DePass's half-assed "apology":
