A new poll asking Americans whether they trust each of the major

television news operations in the country finds that the only one getting a positive review

is Fox News. CNN does next best followed by NBC News, then CBS News, and finally

ABC News.

49% of Americans say they trust Fox News to 37% who disagree. Predictably there is a

large party split on this with 74% of Republicans but only 30% of Democrats saying they

trust the right leaning network.

CNN does next best because it is the second most trusted of Democrats, Republicans, and

independents. 39% say they trust it compared to 41% who do not, with 59% of

Democrats, 33% of independents and 23% of Republicans saying it carries credibility

with them.

The major networks all have the majority trust of Democrats but less than 20% from

Republicans. NBC, perhaps because of the ideological bent of MSNBC, does the best

among Democrats at 62%. Overall 35% of voters trust it to 44% who do not. CBS does

the worst among Republicans, with 69% distrusting it. A plurality of independents

express distrust of all five outlets we tested.

“A generation ago you would have expected Americans to place their trust in the most

neutral and unbiased conveyors of news,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy

Polling. “But the media landscape has really changed and now they’re turning more

toward the outlets that tell them what they want to hear.”

A new poll from DailyKos/Research 2000 shows Latino support for the Republican Party dropping like a stone, perhaps due to the racist attacks on Sonia Sotomayor from many prominent conservative commentators.

You essentially see Hispanics and “others” converging with African-Americans’ dim view of the Republicans. An interesting question here is whether this is a genuine meeting of the minds, or else just an artifact of the reality that black support for Republicans is pushing up against the zero bound, so that as a sinking tide drowns the GOP boat among all racial groups, the black/non-black gap necessarily gets smaller.

So it's been 100 days of the smartest guy in the room speaking in complete sentences. What a refreshing change! Now when I talk with friends from around the world, I don't have to apologize for having an idiot in the White House.

Plus, this revelation: we knew Republicans were into S&M, but who knew they were such teabaggers, too?

Barack Obama approaches the 100-day mark with rising economic hopes, the best job approval rating at this point in 20 years, the broadest personal popularity since Ronald Reagan and half of Americans now saying the country's headed in the right direction.

His problem: The other half don't.

For all he and his supporters have to celebrate, overcoming political divisions -- an Obama pledge -- is not among them. His 69 percent job approval rating in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll is almost exactly the average for an elected president at 100 days in polls back to Dwight Eisenhower. But it belies a more modern partisan gap: Ninety-three percent of Democrats approve. Only 36 percent of Republicans agree.

There's a similar split in the sense that the nation's heading in the right direction. It's soared from 19 percent just before Obama's inauguration to 50 percent today -- a stunning advance to its highest in six years. But while right-track ratings have gained 50 points since January among Democrats, they're up by a far milder 9 points among Republicans.

Considering the track record of today's GOP, should any sane person care about what they think, anyway?
