Good.
I like Joe Biden because he's smart, forward, confident, and garrulous.
I didn't like his Iraq War vote, of course, but I have listened to his explanation as to how he came to that poor decision and I will take him at his word.
But I hope that he--and we--won't get fooled again.
That said, Joe Biden seems to be one of the few entrenched D.C. guys who has the capacity to reconsider the ramifications of his original misguided support of that abysmal failure, and who is in possession of the real-world gravitas that will be helpful in now getting us the hell out.
Obama can continue to play it cool while Joe will be his usual pugnacious self--effectively stating the Obama/Biden case--and a spot-on communicator for all the other "Joes".
I read something a while back about Joe's father, who once had some dough. He lost it, then took a job or two, and he struggled.
Joe's dad became a used-car salesman, I think, and was once at a company party. The boss stood on the second-floor, tossing silver dollars down below and laughing as the "others" madly chased his arrogant pocket change.
Joe Biden's father quit that job on the spot.
I know that he's a long-term U.S. senator, but I feel like Joe's a guy who is still his father's son, and that's good enough for me.
Ain't that America?
"O"-Joe-'08...

I remember Jeannie Phillips telling me during a visit to her house that she liked Joe Biden. I don't recall if she even said why. She didn't have to. Both Jean and her husband Lou are the best of what made America a great country. Though retired now, Lou was a hard working pro-union vet and in my eyes the best of America can be. He and Aunt Jeanie have always been my favorite members of my extended in-law family for their great senses of humor and non-judgmental friendship.
After hearing Jeanie's endorsement I started to pay attention to Joe Biden. What I have always liked about him is his often politically incorrect way of pointing to the truth. And while many don't always like how he says things, I have never heard anyone refer to him as liar.
For voters like me (and trust me, I vote) this helps swing me a bit closer to voting for Obama than anything Obama has done so far.
Thanx for the tip Aunt Jeanie

Yup. They both like Joe a lot, and both are faithful voters who pay attention.
And you're not kiddin'; they are the very embodiment of what made this place great...
I hope Joe can come up with his own words this time around.
I'm sure 20-year old overblown non-issues will get ample airtime on FOX News.
A man's word and character are an issue, no matter how long ago. Barrack could have made a wiser choice. Too many threads, too much politics. What I like about Obama, is that he's new, he's fresh, not much to dig up. He should have chosen the same in his running mate. Anyone who spends as much time in politics as Joe has is going to have a closet full. Let's not kid one another, the Republicans can rattle bones better than anyone. Look what they did with Kerry.
I think we sing from a similar songbook, but the plagiarism matter doesn't track with me. He had attributed words to Kinnock in at least one previous speech, and I don't have a lingering negativity on this old story.
The last politician that I remember giving a thumbs-up shout-out to his speechwriter was Mario Cuomo; this is not to say that Kinnock--uncredited, surely--was Biden's speechwriter. It is merely to say that few of the words we hear spill from a politicians mouth end up being from their own pen.
I, too, understand the possibility that Obama's original message of "hope & change" has morphed into something his opponents can mock with the choice of a long-term senator.
I don't care.
I am a pragmatic realist, and I know that a similar, largely unknown VP choice--while "pure"--would also equal a loss in November.
It's bare-knuckle time in the general election, I have a pugnacious side, and I hope Obama does, too...
BTW: thanks for your comments--I respect the fact that you are an engaged voter, and I'm happy that you stumbled upon this wacky little blog...
Thx!
