Barack Obama was talking about small-town America in San Francisco the other day. I think he's in trouble as much for saying whatever offended the easily-offended because he said it in "godless" San Francisco as for whatever it was his critics--and his political opponents--think was offensive, anyway.
Those critics are easily offended, and those opponents will go negative with glee.
Here's what the hubub's about, and what will consume talk radio for days:
Now Barack Obama is being accused of being "elitist".
That's "elitist"?
Attempting to deal with issues as adults seems to get candidates in trouble. Babbling like a medicated human bumpersticker is more the norm.
The 24/7 news cycle is peopled by nuts, sluts and perverts. It's the least of the worst, and to consider what most of these fools pass off as "news" is the equivalent of your deranged, drunken neighbor talking about the Communists on the town council and her godmother, the whore. Add to that blind faith and idiocy and you have a full-blown non-story on your hands.
For crissakes, don't muse, don't discuss, don't attempt to have one single goddamn thought about this country, its ways, or its people.
Instead, rig an election, wear a flag pin on your lapel, hire thieves and criminals and declare f****** war.
It's way less controversial.
