My first VLOG is done, and I really enjoyed playing Martin Scorsese for a day. Blog4Reel.com asked the bloggers participating in their competition to submit a vlog, which they'll post on their site. My friend Woody introduced me to his friend Eric Coleman, a Vancouver film school alum. Eric, in turn, asked his friend and fellow film school alum William "Billy" Watson to help us with his awesome filming and editing skills.
Years ago, Bruce Bean and I wrote a song parody and we took his video camera to Hermosa Beach for a little "man/woman-in-the street" fun. We asked total strangers to sing our ditty, we filmed 'em, and we've laughed about that day ever since. The tape's around here somewhere...
For the vlog, Eric, Billy, and I first filmed my friend Domi's 4-year old son, Skylar. He wrote with crayons, portraying "Li'l JohnnyRussia", future blogger.
Then it was off to the pier to horrify the locals and try to steal their women.
We met a pack of young beach girls (I love VLOGGING!), and then we did the "man-in-street" thing. My Russian friend Igor makes an appearance, as does another Eastern bloc buddy, the multi-lingual Sala, who spoke German.
I spoke English.
Fun stuff.
Thanks to Eric and Billy for listening to the ravings of this poor-man's Scorsese, and to Domi and Skylar for being such good sports.
Scroll down past the "JackRabbit Café" neon sign for the YouTube version of the VLOG.
And enjoy yourself; it's later than you think...
UPDATE: You can also find the vlog on YouTube, where you can view it in full-screen. Just search for "JackRabbitCafe.blogspot.com".
