Mark Lepage, Montreal Gazette
Published: Monday, March 10, 2008Leonard Cohen's towering songbook fits no category save its own, but they finally found a house big enough to hold it. Cohen's overdue induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame came during Monday night's ceremony at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York.
Between inductions of Madonna, John Mellencamp, the Ventures, Gamble & Huff and Little Walter, Lou Reed took the podium to offer generous commentary on his old pal.
"Like a bird on the wire, like a drunk in a midnight choir, I have tried---in my way---to be free..."
Merci beaucoup!
