You Can Judge A Man By The Company He Keeps.

This post's title is taken from a Danish proverb. A fat-ass like Rash Limbo probably isn't one for proverbs, but he'll always take the danish.

You know, it's little wonder the GOP hired Michael Steele to shill for the RNC; he's as simplistic a cement-headed backstop as are the rest of Confederate Republicans....

From ThinkProgress:

While hosting Bill Bennett’s radio show this morning, RNC Chairman Michael Steele fearmongered about a government-run “health police” that would force Americans to get their annual physicals. The way to solve the health care crisis, Steele said in another portion of the show, is “not that complicated”: All we have to do is “figure out who” doesn’t have access to health care, “and give them access!”

STEELE: So if it’s a cost problem, it’s easy: Get the people in a room who have the most and the most direct impact on cost, and do the deal. Do the deal. It’s not that complicated.
If it’s an access question, people don’t have access to health care, then figure out who they are, and give them access! Hello?! Am I missing something here? If my friend Trevor has access to health care, and I don’t, why do I need to overhaul the entire system so I can get access he already has? why don’t you just focus on me and get me access?
(Audio):

Who knew that, despite the years of delay and debate, all the president has to do is “do the deal” and “give [everyone] access!” Steele’s right — it’s not complicated! Steele should be supporting a public plan, which is the best path to ensuring increased access to health care for all.

Michael Steele: Confederate Soldier.

From HuffPo:

While hosting Bill Bennett's radio show Friday morning, Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele appeared to agree with a caller that President Obama is "the magic Negro."

CALLER: It's just like the LA Times said last year, or two years ago -- he is the magic Negro.

STEELE: Yeah he is -- [laughter]. You read that too, huh?

CALLER: Oh yeah. I read that too. And even when things go wrong, he still manages to come out smelling like a rose.

STEELE: Well, yeah. And it's because he's getting unprecedented coverage -- cover -- by the media.

Steele's amused reaction is somewhat surprising. When former RNC chairman Chip Saltsman released a CD including a parody song "Barack The Magic Negro" in January -- inspired by the same LA Times article -- Steele said it "doesn't help at all ... it reinforces a negative stereotype of the party." Saltsman withdrew from the race to remain chairman in the wake of the scandal.

Renaming GOP Policy.

The Republican National Committee is as aimlessly desperate as the party's leadership itself.

From Greg Sargent on
The
Plumline:

It isn’t easy being Michael Steele these days.

A number of conservative members of the Republican National Committee are pressing the committee — and by extension, Steele — to officially adopt the position that the Democratic Party is socialist.

Over a dozen members of the conservative wing of the RNC have submitted a new resolution, to be eventually voted on by the entire RNC, that would call on the Democratic party to rename itself the “Democrat Socialist Party.” If the RNC adopts this resolution, the RNC’s official view would become that Democrats are socialists. From the resolution:

RESOLVED, that we the members of the Republican National Committee call on the Democratic Party to be truthful and honest with the American people by acknowledging that they have evolved from a party of tax and spend to a party of tax and nationalize and, therefore, should agree to rename themselves the Democrat Socialist Party.

I just reached RNC vice chairman James Bopp, a leading supporter of the resolution, and he confirmed that adopting it would mean the RNC officially designates Dems socialists. “We would be describing the Democrat Party this way if we adopt this resolution,” Bopp said.

This is politically dicey for Steele. In the past he’s refrained from calling Dems and Obama socialists, instead preferring the term “collectivists.”

But in a bit of a potential bombshell, Bobb claimed to me that Steele has privately told him “on several occasions that he agrees with the substance” of the resolution designating Dems socialists.

Jesus Christ, these Republicans are like whiny, snot-nosed kids. Their refusal in recent years to refer to the Democratic Party by its official name and as the Democrat Party instead is childish, "Freedom" Fries, schoolyard stuff.  Now these vacant dolts want to make their name-calling official policy?

The Plumline has updated what's quoted above, claiming that while Steele, too, believes that Democrats are a bunch of subversive socialists, he isn't ready to make that official policy.

After all, that might confuse their actual official policy, which is to listen to Rush Limbaugh and nod in obedient agreement.
