Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!

I know this might surprise you, but did you realize that FOX News wants health care reform to fail?
Oh, yeah--of course you did...

SUMMARY: A Media Matters for America review of Fox News guests in segments discussing health care reform on August 10 and 11 found a substantial disparity in favor of opponents of progressive efforts to reform health care. Over the two days, Fox News hosted 63 opponents and only 10 supporters.

Reform opponents outnumbered supporters 63 to 10. A Media Matters review of digital video and Nexis transcripts of Fox News programming during August 10 and 11 revealed the number of guests in opposition to progressive health care reform efforts to be more than six times greater than the number of guests who were supportive of such efforts.

Guests who voiced opposition to progressive efforts to reform health care, criticized House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer's August 10 USA Today op-ed, or voiced support of protests at recent town hall meetings were counted as in opposition. Guests who voiced support for progressive health care reform efforts or who criticized the protests at recent town hall meetings were counted as supportive. Guests who fit neither category were counted as neutral.

Fox News continues to advance misinformation on health care reform. As Media Matters has documented in recent days, Fox News' reporting and commentary on health care reform has been riddled with falsehoods and misinformation. The stark disparity in favor of guests who oppose reform is in keeping with the network's coverage of the issue.

That's Media Matters response to this from GOP Confederate Kevin Brady of Texas, whose nonsensical handiwork I posted last week.

Hannity Parrots Boehner's Bull.

Typically, FOX News's GOP waterboy Sean Hannity didn't bother to check the facts. Of course, "facts" are listed in the FOX News employee handbook as being against company policy.

As Media Matters points out:

A June 23 Roll Call article uncritically quoted House Minority Leader John Boehner's claim, "Today the President again claimed that the Democrats' government takeover of health care would not force Americans off of their current plans, yet independent analysts have reported that at least 23 million Americans would lose their coverage under the bill drafted by Senate Democrats." Boehner has repeatedly cited that figure, attributing it to the Congressional Budget Office's analysis of draft legislation from the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP). In fact, the CBO calculated that with respect to that bill, in 2017, approximately 10 million individuals "who would be covered through an employer's plan under current law would not have access to that coverage under the draft legislation because some employers would choose not to offer it." But those individuals would not be left without health insurance, as Boehner suggested; the CBO stated that under the draft HELP bill that CBO analyzed -- which did not include a public option -- these individuals would have purchased private insurance offered through the government-regulated exchanges set up by the legislation.
The "at least 23 million Americans" figure Boehner used actually refers to the number of Americans currently covered under employer-provided, individual, or government-provided health insurance that the CBO determined would be covered in 2017 through the bill's insurance exchanges.

The rest is here. E-mail it to Sean.

Tammy Trashes For Cash.

From MediaMatters:

Tammy Bruce, guest host for Laura Ingram's radio show, had some harsh words for First Lady Michelle Obama.

Discussing the first lady's visit to a Washington D.C. classroom last week, Bruce incredulously recalled Obama's story about wanting to get A's in school and called out her use of a "weird, fake accent."

"That's what he's married to," Bruce said. "...You know what we've got? We've got trash in the White House. Trash is a thing that is colorblind, it can cross all eco-socionomic...categories. You can work on Wall Street, or you can work at the Wal-Mart. Trash, are people who use other people to get things, who patronize others, who consider you bitter and clingy..."

Trash, Tammy, would be what one calls faded media whores such as you who continue to pimp yesteryear's O.J. fame while filling in for other trashy talk radio hosts like Laura Ingraham.
