Last weekend, JackRabbit Café featured a post about the mind-numbingly puerile ramblings of radio huckster Rush Limbaugh. Oxy's very own moron hid behind his microphone and bellowed that he hoped Barack Obama would fail at his job.
His legion of listeners no doubt loved it, and most perhaps missed the irony of a self-professed patriot cheerleading for his country's new leadership to fail.
(Sure as hell wouldn't be the first thing that crowd has missed...)
As UPI reports, President Obama made a couple points of his own on Friday:
President Barack Obama told Republicans in Washington they "can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done."
Obama was meeting with Congressional leaders to work on details of an economic stimulus package. Republicans say the proposal -- currently estimated at $825 billion -- is too big and should include bigger tax cuts to be effective.
During an exchange with Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., Obama reminded Republicans of the outcome of the November election.
"I won," he said.
At one point, the president told the GOP lawmakers they should stop paying attention to right-wing radio personality Rush Limbaugh if they want bipartisanship, the New York Post reported.
I have e-mailed Rush Limbaugh on several occasions, realizing each time that it's probably an unpaid intern reading my diatribes before hitting "delete." Rush and I are not pen-pals.
Limbaugh's brother David--a conservative writer who shares the exact same views, if not Rush's old drug habit--actually does read his own e-mail:
JohnnyRussia: Your most recent column reads like a "greatest" hits of the extreme fringe of the discredited right-wing. Your brother is on record as hoping this country remains in the ditch Bush/Cheney drove us into, and you are riding his coattails straight into his sewer.
JohnnyRussia: He said he hoped Obama failed. That would mean America, too, would fail. The two are inseparable.
I lost my new pen-pal David after that; no reply.
I did, however, e-mail both Limbaugh boys a link to the post I mentioned at the opening. It's here if you want to read it. I reminded them both that I had, indeed, read Rush's statements, and that the brother with the big mouth most assuredly had taken the position the brother at the keyboard said he never would.
Funny, though; again--no reply.
