The Best-Looking Man In Show Business Today remembers the late, great Eartha Kitt:
I always loved her character and that voice that had a almost alien cabaret quality to it. "I Want to be Evil" is one of my favorite songs ever.
I remember well her fearlessness when she gave Lady Bird Johnson a dressing down for her husband's role in wasting the youth of our nation on the tragedy that was the Viet Nam war. She righteously tore into a pathetic Sammy Davis Jr. for actively supporting the criminal Richard Nixon. Her reward for those actions was a virtual blacklisting in the Amerikan entertainment industry which forced her to work primarily in Europe where she was both beloved and respected.
During the 80s she played shows in South Africa in order to help build schools for black children in what was still an apartheid nation.
My concern is that in her passing few will remember that she had beauty, talent, brains, class, courage, and never sought the spotlight for anything other than the right reasons.
