"O.V. Wright Night" In Memphis.

The "B" Side is a phenomenal blog operated by Red Kelly. It highlights--in Red's words--"the poor, neglected "B" sides of all these 45s I have."
It is truly a labor of love, and home to many a missing gem.
O.V. Wright was a Southern soul singer who helped define the genre and later fell on hard times.
     He died at 41.
Earlier this year, Red became involved with the O.V. Wright Memorial Fund, whose aim was to raise enough money to purchase a headstone for O.V.'s unmarked Memphis grave.
Over $2,000 has been collected, and O.V.'s widow Alberta was able to select a fitting monument, which will be dedicated in Memphis on November 16, the 28th anniversary of O.V.'s death.
The Ground Zero Blues Club in Memphis will be the site of a tribute concert the night before the graveside ceremony, with Red in the fitting role of concert promoter.
Proceeds will benefit the Soul of Memphis Foundation.
