While hanging out in Rice Square in St. Paul at the RNC I watched as a black man who had been addressing the crowd in a non-threatening fashion for about a half hour was suddenly engulfed by a dozen or so riot police. The swarm of police then moved him instantly out of sight and the void left behind by was quickly filled by a mix of about thirty to forty riot and regular police. Jacked up on bullshit tales of anarchists you could see in the police's eyes that they were there to shut mouths and bust heads.

It was the same look I saw in thier
eyes two nights before at the Target Center in Minneapolis before and after the Rage Against the Machine concert. Fortunately nobody flinched and the night was peaceful, thanks to some sound post concert advice from RAM front man Zach de la Rocha. But just flinch or speak freely and the shit is on.
