"Now Tell Me The Truth Boys, Is This Kinda Fun?"

This post's title is a quote from former House Majority Leader and total dick Tom DeLay (R-TX), speaking to three young hurricane evacuees from New Orleans at the Houston Astrodome in 2005.

The picture is real; it's Dubya and McBush III on DoubleTalk's 69th birthday, when they hugged on the day a city began to drown.

What a difference a Republican convention makes, huh?

From Politico:

ST. PAUL, Minn. — John McCain told reporters via satellite Sunday that most opening day activities of the Republican National Convention will be suspended because of the threat from Hurricane Gustav. “Of course, this is a time when we have to do away with our party politics, and we have to act as Americans,” he told a convention news conference from St. Louis. “We’re going to suspend most of our activities tomorrow.” Four days of festivities were to open Monday, but now a party business session is all that is scheduled. President Bush, first lady Laura Bush, Vice President Cheney and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger all canceled Monday appearances. Bush is likely to address the nation, instead, if killer Gustav does not veer off its path toward the Gulf Coast. Convention planners said McCain hopes to show up later in the week to accept his party’s nomination, but there was no guarantee of it, and he is not required to be in the hall for the nomination to be official.

Would he even be missed if he didn't show up?

The GOP base has that wacky VP choice to excite them; an unqualified idealogue who was picked because she has breasts and a vagina, although she's never felt a need to fight for the rest of her half of the population that has those, too.

Once again, we will debate religion, abortion, "family values", and nationalism.

Once again, an attempt will be made to hide issues that actually matter to you and me.

Once again, the party that can't defend itself will claim that they can defend us.

Now tell me the truth, boys, is this kinda fun?

No.

It's pathetic.
