In Taiwan, Mountain Dew grows on trees

***Editor's note: No, I'm not face-down near the Mountain Dew tree. Charles took the picture by turning his camera sideways, and when we tried to rotate it and save it in its corrected fashion, we couldn't. So, here it is; sideways like some scenes on the old "Batman" with Adam West.***

This will be my last guest blog until the next opportunity. Taiwan has definitely been a trip. After receiving my box of computer chips this afternoon, John and I took a trip to Taipei 101, currently the world's tallest building and (successfully) constructed to look like a giant stick of bamboo. The fastest elevator in the world took us up to the 89th floor observatory in something like 40 seconds, and we had the good luck of a relatively clear day to see Taipei city from a privileged vantage point.
On our way, we managed to find the fabled Mountain Dew Tree (see picture), which I attribute to John's innate gravitation to toward the stuff. Taipei is a great city to walk around in. There are scooters everywhere, with Taiwanese people in German-Kaiser-type helmets zipping around town.
I hope for good karma with customs, and look forward to my next trip, perhaps to Beijing (?) Mahalo...

Oh, uncle and nephew you say. Huh. You make a good combo......... Worship the blog! Love the blog! I read the blog before my emails. This is fun!
