Mexicana flights are often delayed, and my investigative instincts point to the unique packing and boarding techniques of many large Mexican families. It can take a while to pull it all together. Longer still when tequila is involved.
China Airlines is more machine-like and orderly. Today, though, we will depart for TPE about an hour and a half late. That'll give me extra time to really get to know the cesspool that is the Tom Bradley Terminal at LAX.
I'd suggest they blow it up and start again, but that's a sensitive proposition in a post-9/11 world.
There is just one place to get a cup of coffee or a beer or a sandwich in this entire wing. There is a ghetto quality to this pit that makes it the least-comfortable terminal I have been in, and that includes the one in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
It's trash.
So here we sit. I'm actually looking forward to being jammed into my too-small, drafty emergency-row aisle seat for over 14 hours. Anything is better than this place.
