I just received an e-mail from Charles, and U.S. Customs hassled him at LAX, but waved him through with the box, anyway. He didn't encounter Inspector Murphy, but it seems that LAX Customs is cracking down on entry requirements for hand-carries.
I'm not looking forward to seeing their pistols and badges tomorrow night, but I'm prepared for anything they throw at me.
My own box just arrived. I asked the sweet girl at the front desk to make me some copies of the invoice. She smiled and said in her best English, "Are you a spy?"
